The promo industry finally has a room of its own.

Ask a promo question today and your options are a Facebook group full of strangers, a text to the one supplier rep who always picks up, or whoever happens to be standing next to you at a trade show. All three work, sort of. None of them are searchable next week, and none of them tell you whether the person answering has ever actually run the job. The MPower Community Forum is a better option: one place, built into the software you already use, where distributors and suppliers talk to each other.
Where do you ask right now?
Everyone in this industry has a question that doesn’t have a good home. Which supplier can actually hit a ten-day turn on soft goods. Whether anyone has run this decoration on this substrate before. What a fair setup charge looks like this year. How other shops are handling a client who wants a store live in a week.
These aren’t support tickets. There’s no documentation page that answers them, because the answer isn’t a fact about software — it’s experience, and it lives in other people’s heads.
So the questions scatter. Some land in industry Facebook groups, where the useful reply is three comments down under a sales pitch. Some go out as a text to a rep, which works right up until that rep changes jobs. Most just don’t get asked at all, and someone guesses instead.
Four rooms, clear rules
The forum is one community, split into categories that match how the industry actually divides up.
Announcements is where we post product updates and company news. Everyone can read and reply; only the MPower team starts threads there.
General Discussion is the main room, open to everyone. This is the one where a distributor’s question can get answered by a supplier who knows the answer cold.
Distributor Talk is visible only to distributor staff. Margins, clients, software, hiring — the conversations you’d rather not have with suppliers reading over your shoulder.
Supplier Corner works the same way in reverse, visible only to supplier staff. Data feeds, PromoStandards, lead times, decoration capacity.
Visibility is enforced when posts are fetched, not hidden with a bit of styling. A supplier account cannot load Distributor Talk, and a distributor account cannot load Supplier Corner — not in the feed, not in search, not by guessing a URL.
You can see who you’re talking to
Every post and every reply carries the author’s name, their company, and which side of the order they’re on. A distributor badge or a supplier badge, right there next to the name.
That sounds small. It changes the character of the whole thing. Advice from “PromoGuy1987” is worth what you paid for it. Advice from a named person at a named supplier, who has to stand behind it tomorrow, is worth considerably more — and it tends to be more careful for exactly that reason.
When a thread should become a conversation
Some of the best outcomes shouldn’t happen in public. A supplier answers a capacity question in a thread; the real next step is a quote, and that’s nobody else’s business.
So you can message any member directly, one to one, from their post. Unread messages show as a badge on the Forum item in your navigation, so a conversation doesn’t die because nobody refreshed the page. It’s the part that turns a good answer into an actual working relationship.
Follow what matters, ignore the rest
A community is only useful if it doesn’t become another thing to keep up with. You choose what reaches you: follow the entire forum, or subscribe to just the categories you care about, and get an email when something new lands there. Turn any of it off whenever you like.
Everything is searchable, too, which is the quiet advantage over a chat group. A good answer from four months ago is still a good answer — you just have to be able to find it. Before you ask, it’s worth searching; someone may have already done the legwork.
Keeping it useful
Community guidelines apply to every post, and you accept them before your first one. Any member can report a post or comment, which puts it in front of a moderator. Moderators can remove content or lock a thread that’s run its course.
The bar we’re holding is simple: this is a room for people who do this work, talking about doing this work. Recruiting pitches and thinly-veiled advertising get removed. Genuinely useful answers from suppliers are the entire point and always welcome.
Where to find it
Sign in at app.mpowerpromo.com and click Forum in the left navigation, under Overview. There’s no separate signup, no new password, no group request waiting for approval. It’s included with every MPower plan — including the free distributor plan — at no extra cost.
It’s new, which means right now it’s small. That’s the honest state of it, and it’s also the opportunity: the questions asked in the first few weeks tend to set the tone for what a community becomes. If you’ve got the question that never had a good home, this is a good moment to ask it.
