MPower vs ASI ESP+

ASI ESP+ comes with a membership.
MPower is the software, priced in public.

ASI ESP+ is the product search and order platform that comes with ASI distributor membership, alongside ESP+ Websites and ESP+ Stores for company stores. ASI does not publish membership prices. MPower is one system for promotional products distributors, with published plans: CRM, presentations, orders, supplier POs over PromoStandards, unlimited stores and accounting. Here is the side-by-side.

Why distributors look at MPower

Software you can price before the call.

Published pricing

MPower lists every plan and its store fee on /pricing. ASI sells ESP+ through membership packages and asks you to talk to a representative for the price.

Lower fees on store orders

MPower charges 1.9% on web-store orders, or 1.5% on Pro, and 0% on orders your team enters in the app. ASI's help center lists a 2.9% fee on every ESP+ Stores order.

The books close in the same place

QuickBooks sync, Stripe-to-QuickBooks reconciliation, billing and commissions sit next to the orders that created them.

Side by side

MPower vs ASI ESP+, feature by feature.

Both cover search, sales, orders and stores. The biggest differences are how you pay and what else the price buys.

What it actually costs

ASI's store fee is public. Its membership price is not.

ASI does not publish what membership costs, so a full ASI total can't be built from public numbers. What it does publish is the 2.9% fee on ESP+ Stores orders. Here is MPower's full yearly cost next to that store fee alone, on published rates.

Web-store sales per yearMPower All-in-OneMPower ProESP+ Stores fee only
$100,000$7,650$13,010$2,900 + membership
$250,000$10,500$15,260$7,250 + membership
$500,000$15,250$19,010$14,500 + membership
$1,000,000$24,750$26,510$29,000 + membership

MPower All-in-One's subscription is paid for by the 1-point fee difference at about $575,000 of yearly store sales; above that, it costs less than ASI's store fee by itself, before any membership. For Pro, the same point is about $822,000.

When ASI is the better fit. ASI membership buys things MPower does not sell: an ASI number that suppliers recognize, admission to the ASI Show and other events, the ASI Learning Network, member discounts, and a 1.2-million-product database with human-audited pricing. If you want those, you will keep paying for membership, and ESP+ comes with it, so MPower would be an added cost, not a swap. For a small store program inside a membership you already have, ESP+ Stores adds only its 2.9% fee, which is less than MPower's subscription until store sales reach several hundred thousand dollars a year.

Where MPower wins

  • A price you can see. Every plan and fee is on /pricing; no membership package to negotiate.
  • Lower store fees: 1.9% on All-in-One, 1.5% on Pro, against 2.9% on ESP+ Stores.
  • 0% on orders your team enters in the app; the fee applies to web-store orders only.
  • Unlimited stores on All-in-One and Pro, with allowances, approvals, SSO and start and end dates.
  • Electronic supplier POs sent over PromoStandards to connected suppliers.
  • SOC 2 Type 2, independently audited by Sensiba LLP.

How these are built. MPower All-in-One at $479.20/mo billed annually ($5,750/yr, up to 10 users) plus 1.9% of web-store orders, minimum $1 per order; All-in-One Pro at $959.20/mo billed annually ($11,510/yr, unlimited users) plus 1.5%, minimum $0.25 per order. Example at $250,000: $5,750 + $4,750 = $10,500, and $11,510 + $3,750 = $15,260. ESP+ Stores at 2.9% of the cart total excluding sales tax, from ASI's ESP+ Knowledge Base article on store transaction fees. Break-even: $5,750 / (2.9% - 1.9%) = $575,000, and $11,510 / (2.9% - 1.5%) = $822,143. Order minimums are ignored, which assumes an average order above $52.63 on All-in-One. MPower's fee does not include card processing; ASI's article does not say whether its fee does. ASI membership, extra ESP+ licenses and ESP+ Websites are priced by ASI sales and not included.

FAQ

MPower and ASI ESP+, answered.

How much does ASI ESP+ cost?
ASI does not publish a price. ESP+ comes with ASI distributor membership, and new distributor members get two ESP+ licenses. To get a membership price you fill in a form or call ASI. ESP+ Stores adds a 2.9% fee on each store order, per ASI's own help center.
Can I buy ESP+ without ASI membership?
ASI's pages present ESP+ as part of distributor membership, and we found no standalone ESP+ price. Ask ASI directly if you want software only.
Is MPower cheaper than ASI?
On store fees, yes: 1.9% or 1.5% against 2.9%. On total cost it depends on your membership price, which ASI doesn't publish. If you keep ASI membership for the ASI number and shows, MPower is an added cost. MPower pays off when it replaces the CRM, order, store and accounting tools you would otherwise run.
Do I lose my ASI number if I switch software?
Your ASI number comes with ASI membership, not with the software you run your business on. Using MPower doesn't change your membership; whether you keep paying for it is your call.
Where does MPower's product data come from?
MPower syncs over 725,000 products from suppliers over PromoStandards, with scheduled pricing and inventory updates, and sends purchase orders over PromoStandards to connected suppliers. ASI's ESP database is larger, at 1.2 million products.
What comes across when I move?
Customer and contact records, order history and artwork files come across. Product data is rebuilt live from PromoStandards rather than copied, so it arrives current. Websites and stores are rebuilt with the MPower store builder and templates.
